Our Host

Dr Matt Winning

Comedian and environmental economist Matt Winning received wide critical acclaim in 2018 for his show Climate Strange which had a sold-out run at the renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A climate change comic by night, by day Matt is a Researcher at UCL for Sustainable Resources with a PhD in Climate Change Policy. He starred as Environmental Correspondent on hit Dave series ‘Unspun with Matt Forde’ as well as appearing on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Now Show’ and BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Breaking the News’.

Matt brings together comedy and climate news in his podcast ‘Operation Earth’ and, in 2019, he released a TEDx talk about the importance of using humour to discuss the situation. At the end of 2021, Matt released his first book Hot Mess to help readers find the comedy in climate change and – this year – will be touring the nation with his latest show of the same name.
